[Finished] Operation Deadly Love

  • ‘Hun, can you pass me that vase?’ my girlfriend asked, pointing to one of the larger white vases, from the other side of the room.
  • ‘Sure thing babe,’ I said as I picked up the much-heavier-than-it-seemed vase. I let out a breath as I carried it to where Eunji was. I heard her giggle, probably laughing at me but I decided not to comment on that. ‘Where do you want it?’ I asked.
  • ‘Right there,’ Eunji pointed to the corner. I set it down and dusted myself off out of habit. 'Perfect. Thank you jagi,' she said as she smiled that beautiful smile that had made me fall in love with her.
  • ‘You do know you have workers to do this stuff right? I mean I don’t mind helping but…’ I said but she just giggled once more.
  • ‘I know Hobi-ah, but you know me. I want everything to go perfect, especially when it comes to weddings. This is their special day,’ she said, making me smile.
  • I walked over to her and grabbed her hands in mine. ‘Do you know how proud I am of you?’ I asked as I twirled her around and pulled her into my chest.
  • ‘I know but I assure you I’m even prouder of you Hobi-ah,’ Eunji said, kissing my cheek. ‘I mean my boyfriend is a Forensic Analysist who was just asked to join a team of special people,’ she said, giggling.
  • ‘I’m sure they looked at other people too jagiya,’ I said but she shook her head.
  • ‘But they chose you. They came to you. Now it’s up to you whether you want to accept it or not,’ she said.
  • ‘What do you think I should do babe?’ I asked and she sighed as she cupped my face in her hands.
  • ‘Baby, this is your choice. Every choice you make will have its pluses and minuses. You just got to weigh them against one another, but you’ve been talking about leaving that department and joining a new one for ages,’ she said.
  • ‘Yeah I know. I’ve been having trouble with my seniors and one of these days I’m going to end up getting fired for punching him or something. He *es me off so bad,’ I said, remembering the way he had talked to one of the female workers.
  • Firstly, he had commented on her clothing and smacked her butt and because she asked him not to do it again, he had started yelling at her and threatening her with her job which she had worked hard for. He kept shouting in her face, making her tear up in front of everyone until I butted in, as usual. It infuriated me that reports never went anywhere. Not only that, but an * like that would be kept, maybe even promoted, while she would be reprimanded or blamed for her "choice of clothing", as if wearing a shirt and a pencil skirt was an open invitation.
  • ‘I know baby and I also know you kept reporting him but nothing ever did happen,’ Eunji said with a frown. ‘It’s the kind of world we live in and keep fighting against,’ she said.
  • ‘I know but I hate it,’ I said, frowning. She smiled and touched my cheek.
  • ‘Maybe you can do something about it now. I mean, you’ll be working directly with the Chief of Police,’ she said. My eyes widened as my smile grew bigger.
  • ‘You’re right! Babe you’re a genius. I can ask for his help,’ I said as I twirled her around.
  • ‘Hoseok, it honestly makes my heart swell with so much pride when I see you like this. Fighting for causes that don’t even have to do with you but you still do,’ she said.
  • ‘Someone’s got to fight the good fight along with people who deserve equality,’ I said.
  • ‘That’s right baby,’ she said. ‘Shall we continue?’ she asked. I nodded as I gave her a kiss on the cheek.
  • ‘Sure, tell me what you need ma’am,’ I said, causing her to giggle. 'But first, dance with me,' I said as I grabbed her hand and started to twirl her around.
  • 'What are you doing jagi?' she asked as I twirled her once more, her laughter echoing loudly.
  • 'Practicing for our own first dance for when we'll get married in the future,' I said as I pulled her close and kissed her.

  • Taehyung and I were near the house where the suspect was supposed to be. Two weeks ago, Taehyung and I had started working on the case of Mr. Gwan who was found murdered in his own home. We had started the investigation which led to Mr. Bak being the sole suspect. All the evidence pointed at him being the murderer. We had finally gotten the arrest warrant which led to us being here.
  • ‘Are you ready Detective Park?’ Taehyung asked with that usual smirk that meant he was excited and pumped.
  • ‘Yep. Are you Detective Kim?’ I asked to which he chuckled. We both took a deep breath and nodded at one another as we made our way towards the door, our guns at the ready.
  • Taehyung knocked, one, twice. ‘Mr. Bak, this is the Police. Open up,’ Taehyung called. There was no response and I nodded. Taehyung took a step back and turned around as he kicked open the door.
  • He looked at me and smirked, causing me to roll my eyes. ‘Show off,’ I whispered as the two of us made our way into the house which was a mess. There was a chair on the floor along with two glass bottles. There was also the glass table which had been broken, sending glass everywhere. There were various papers scattered around as well.
  • ‘He’s certainly not getting any rewards for neatness or cleanliness,’ Taehyung murmured.
  • ‘It looks like he ran away in a hurry,’ I said with a frown. I looked around as my eyes fell on a bloodied piece of cloth. ‘Look what we have here,’ I said as I took out a glove and grabbed the piece of clothing.
  • ‘Maybe a piece of his shirt or pants,’ Taehyung said. ‘Could be the victim’s blood on that. We need to get to forensics, have them go through it and then lock it with evidence,’ he said.
  • I nodded as I put the piece of clothing in a bag. We kept looking around as we both climbed upstairs. Taehyung and I looked at one another before I pushed open the door to Mr. Bak’s office.
  • We walked in and both of our eyes fell on a trophy which was slightly bent and covered in blood. ‘Looks like we found our murder weapon,’ I said as Taehyung picked it up using a glove.
  • ‘Looks like it. We might have solidified the evidence but we’re still missing our suspect,’ he said with a frown.
  • ‘We’ll find him Tae,’ I said as he nodded. I looked around before I heard a loud thud. Taehyung and I exchanged a look as we both rushed out to see Mr. Bak running.
  • ‘Aish! He’s running. Why do they always have to run?’ Taehyung growled as we both took off running.
  • ‘Stop! Police!’ I yelled, for the sake of doing my job. Obviously, Mr. Bak didn’t listen and kept on running. Taehyung and I split up as I kept chasing from behind him. I saw him turn slightly to see where I was. He pushed a trashcan and increased his speed.
  • ‘*,’ I muttered under my breath as I jumped over the trashcan and kept on running. He went to go around the corner but he was quickly tacked to the ground by Taehyung who was on him. He was always good at the whole tackling down - using his height to his advantage. People often underestimated how strong and smart Taehyung actually was.
  • ‘Stop struggling. You’re under arrest for murder,’ Taehyung said as he quickly brought his arms behind his back and cuffed him.
  • ‘What are you doing? You've got it all wrong. I didn’t do anything!’ Mr. Bak yelled.
  • ‘We’ll talk about that at the precinct Mr. Bak. Don’t you worry,’ Taehyung said as he pulled him up while I walked closer to him.
  • ‘You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have a right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you.’ I said as Mr. Bak looked at us.
  • Taehyung and I both looked at Mr. Bak while we sat in the interrogation room. ‘I swear I…I didn’t mean it,’ Mr. Bak said in a panicked voice.
  • ‘Is that so? Tell us what happened Mr. Bak and we might be able to help you,’ Taehyung said.
  • ‘Okay um… Mr. Gwan and I have known each other for a very long time. We worked together but lately, he…he had grown greedy,’ Mr. Bak said as he looked at both of us.
  • ‘Greedy? What do you mean?’ I asked. Mr. Bak frowned as he bit his lower lip, almost as if he was scared to talk.
  • ‘Mr. Bak, we can’t help you if you don’t talk to us,’ Taehyung encouraged.
  • ‘He had been complaining a lot lately – that we were overworked and paid little money while the big heads didn’t lift a finger and got rich off our backs,’ Mr. Bak explained.
  • ‘So he decided to take matters into his own hands?’ I asked and he nodded.
  • ‘How. We need details Mr. Bak,’ Taehyung said.
  • ‘He was stealing from the company and I went to try and open up his eyes. I told him that if I caught him, others could. That he could end up in a lot of * for stealing but we got into an argument. He…he started yelling and throwing stuff and I don’t even know how it happened but it got physical. I pushed him off of me but he lost his balance, fell,’ he explained.
  • ‘Did he fall on anything particular Mr. Bak? I asked, remembering what we had found.
  • ‘During the scuffle, things fell from the table, including his precious trophy. He fell on it, well, rather, not him on it, but as he fell, his head hit on it,’ he explained.
  • Taehyung and I both exchanged a look. Somehow, we were both convinced he was saying the truth. ‘You’ve been very cooperative Mr. Bak, except for the making us chase you part,’ Taehyung said.
  • ‘I was scared, I still am,’ he admitted and I nodded, understandingly. ‘I never meant to kill him, I swear to you. I never hurt anyone in my whole life. It was an accident,’ he said.
  • ‘We believe you Mr. Bak,’ I said. ‘Now if you excuse us, my partner and I have a bit to discuss,’ I said as I stood up and followed by Taehyung to go outside.
  • ‘If we can prove that Mr. Gwan was stealing from the company, we can find out if there is any truth to his story,’ Taehyung said.
  • ‘If he is saying the truth, this Mr. Gwan doesn’t seem like the nicest fellows. We can ask Carter to check on the company,’ I said as Taehyung nodded while he checked his watch. ‘You need to go, don’t you?’ I asked.
  • ‘I promised her I’ll go visit and check on her Jimin,’ he said as he sighed. I chuckled slightly as I shook my head.
  • ‘I don’t know how you do it. I mean, I get that she needs help but that woman broke your heart in the past. She literally left you in pieces and you still help her,’ I said.
  • ‘I have my reasons Jimin but I appreciate your concern,’ he said.
  • ‘Up to you brother. Go, I’ll wrap things here for today,’ I said as he nodded.
